Insamlingskoder och nummer

Plant Collectors Codes

Efter ett växtnamn står det ibland ett antal bokstäver följt av ett tal, t.ex. Rheum tibeticum SEP 352. Det betyder att växten Rheum tibeticum insamlades av Swedish Expedition to Pakistan (SEP) och att insamlingsnumret är 352. Nedanstående lista förklarar vad koderna betyder. Ska man följa reglerna hos KEW ska koden vara på högst 4 tecken. Därför avviker den ibland från det som vi vant oss med (t.ex. BATMAN) och ofta hoppas &-tecknet över.

Speciellt bland växter som är väldigt variabla, t.ex. många lök- och knölväxter, är denna kod väsentlig att hålla reda på. Fast det gäller förstås bara så länge som den bara är vegetativt förökad. Så fort som den är fröförökat minskar betydelsen snabbt. Möjligen kan man märka första generationens plantor med ”ex SEP 352”, vilket betyder att de kommer från SEP 352, efter första generationen är det snarast rent felaktigt att nämna insamlingsnumret.

PS De här koderna är insamlade från flera olika håll och är kanske inte alltid korrekta och sedan har vi förstås de vanliga orsakerna till att namn blir felaktiga, felskrift, otydliga etiketter och hörfel.
